Here are some home remedies for Chilblains that can help relieve the itchiness and redness. You should go contact your physician if your Chilblains are very severe.
Raw Onion - cut a raw onion and use the edge of the onion over the Chilblains. Let the juice soak into the skin. This will help cut down the itchiness.
Egg and Honey - Use a tablespoon of honey, a little of glycerin , one egg white, mix it to a paste with alittle flour. Apply over the Chilblains for about 8 hours.
Potato and Salt - slice a potato, sprinkle some salt on the potato, and rub it over the chilblains.
Warm vegetable oil and lemon juice - massage with warm vegetable oil added with a few drop of lemon juice.
You can massage your toes and hands with the warm vegetable oil with the lemon juice even before the chilblains occur to prevent it as well. I never tried any of the home remedies myself besides the massaging with the warm vegetable oil.
Chilblains - Itchy Swollen Toes
Chilblains (also known as pernio and perniosis) is a medical condition. Chilblains are acral ulcers that occur when a predisposed individual is exposed to cold and humidity. The cold exposure damages capillary beds in the skin, which in turn can cause redness, itching, blisters, and inflammation. Chilbains can occur on fingers and toes. |
